Genovesa, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

Genovesa is the only one of the northern Galapagos Islands open to visitors, and is home to the biggest red-footed boobie colony in the islands. This destination is a must-see for bird-watchers, nature enthusiasts, or anyone interested in seeing something unique and beautiful. Make your way up the rocky, volcanic path of El Barranco, also named Prince Phillip's Steps, to see the island's largest bird colonies. Visit the beach of Bahia Darwin for a glimpse of the sea lions lounging on the white sand, and more encounters with birds near the mangroves. There are multiple trails across Genovesa that lead up and around the cliffs to give travelers spectacular island views.
